| Built on the site of the former Jefferson Downs Race Track,
Metairie's largest park, Lafreniere, is one of
the best recreational spots in Metairie. The paved two mile
walking/ jogging path generally runs the entire perimeter
of the park (but it is difficult to see on this overhead image).
The lagoons, swamp, attractive landscaping, baseball and soccer fields and natural wood Pavilion (appearing left as the center of a spoke wheel in the middle of this image and below) and the other amenities make this park a favorite for many. |
